Description of the painting
The family portrait shows a mother with her three teenage children. A snake is coiling at their feet, and a mouse is watching curiously. A small hint that something may not be quite right in the family. The eldest daughter is clearly in a bad mood. She obviously did not want to be in the photo taken by the father of the family. Is it just a moment of annoyance, or is the adolescent already in an outsider position?
